Granny D marched 3,200 miles across the mainland for campaign finance reform. She started on January 1, 1999 and finished February 29, 2000.
At the age of 94, Granny D ran for the Senate in 2004, financed by small private contributions, and won 34% of the vote. In 2007 HBO released a documentary, "Run Granny Run," directed by Marlo Poras, about Granny D's 2004 Senate campaign.
